Hypnotherapy  is used to help with pain control and to overcome habits, such as
SMOKING or OVEREATING. It is also helpful for people whose symptoms are severe
or who need crisis management.

QUIZ and find out.

As an aid to counseling, hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation, intense
concentration, and focused attention to achieve a heightened state of awareness
that is sometimes called a trance. Your attention is so focused while in this state
that anything going on around the you is temporarily blocked out or ignored. You
feel completely relaxed but you are always in control of what you say and do.

The hypnotic state allows people to explore painful thoughts, feelings, and
memories they may have hidden from their conscious minds. Hypnosis enables
people to block pain. Hypnosis can improve the success of other treatments for
many conditions, including: phobias, fears, anxiety, sleep disorders, depression,
stress, grief and loss

Together, learn how to strengthen and heal your relationship. Couples learn ways
to handle conflict more effectively and to increase affection and closeness
improving intimacy and friendship. If you have a strong relationship, this  will
provide you with insights and tools to make it a great one. If your relationship is
distressed, this will provide a road map for repair.

Counseling involves sitting in a relaxing atmosphere as I guide you to explore
issues to help you to resolve conflict and dissatisfaction in relationships, to
manage stress and anger and to resolve anxiety from painful experiences. It can
help you do the work of forgiveness in a healthy way, grieve losses and manage
changes in your life.  In the sessions, we work together to learn how to become
healthier and experience a more satisfying, fulfilling lifestyle by modifying certain
thought and behavior patterns. It is based on the theory that thought and behavior
can affect a person's symptoms and can be an obstacle to recovery. Counseling
may be done alone or in combination with energy therapies mentioned on this site.

Reiki (Ray-Kee) means Universal Life Energy and is a Japanese healing modality
involving the laying of hands on the body. Reiki can relieve anxiety and fear and
enhance feelings of  peace, understanding and clarity. Reiki is a holistic approach
to well being, which supports the body's natural ability to heal itself physically,
emotionally, and spiritually. As you lie comfortably on the massage table I will place
my hands gently above or on your head, shoulders, stomach, and feet. I hold the
area of the body for a few minutes at each position sending energy to enhance
relaxation, peace, and healing.

Emotional Freedom Technique helps relieve anxiety and discomfort. The
technique involves tapping on energy meridian sites and is based on new
discoveries regarding the connection between your body's subtle energies, your
emotions, and your health. EFT has been reported successful in thousands of
cases covering a huge range of emotional, health and performance issues. It
often works where nothing else will. It combines mind and body therapies in a
noninvasive procedure that you can learn to do for yourself at home.

Therapeutic Touch (TT) is used to balance and promote the flow of human
energy. It is taught in colleges around the world and has a substantial base of
formal and clinical research. This research has shown that TT is useful in
reducing pain, improving wound healing, aiding relaxation, and easing the dying
process. It can be learned by anyone with a sincere interest and motivation
towards helping others.

In a study I recently published in the Internet Journal of Advanced
Practice Nursing with Sanford Kimmel, MD at the University of
Toledo Health Sciences Campus we found that TT significantly
decreased pain and improved daily function such as walking and
climbing stairs in people with arthritis in their knees.

The technique involves the therapist "scanning" the body by placing both hands
together, side-by-side, palms down, facing the body. As you sit comfortably in a
chair or lie on the massage table, I begin moving my hands at the top of your
head, 3-5 inches above the body (in the energy field) and proceed to balance the
energy from head to toe, both on the front as well as backside of the body. You
will experience deep relaxation and a sense of peace as your energy balances
and your body and mind relax.
